Alte Oper
The
Alte Oper, a High Renaissance building, was inaugurated in 1880 by
Emperor Wilhelm I. It was destroyed in 1944 and for many years
thereafter was referred to as the "most beautiful ruins" in Germany.
Since its re-inauguration in 1981, it has been an integral part of
Frankfurt's cultural life and has housed various concerts, performances
and conventions.
"Fressgass"
Frankfurt´s culinary mile, the "Fressgass", is located between Opera Square and “Zeil”, one of Germany’s most profitable and popular shopping promenades. After World War I, numerous grocery stores, fruit n´ veg shops and delicatessens took up residence here. The Kalbächer Gasse, which is the origin name, was turned into a pedestrian zone, featuring a colourful variety of food shops, restaurants, cafés, delicatessens, wine and gourmet shops, the "Fressgass" exudes a special charm
and is a must-see for all visitors of Frankfurt.

The
house of Johann Wolfgang Goethe's parents is located at Großer
Hirschgraben 23-25. Together with the neighbouring Goethe Museum, it
allows an insight into the youth of one of the most important and best

Paulskirche
The first German national assembly, which established the basis for Germany's current constitution, took place in this church in 1848. Today it serves as a venue for various award ceremonies, as well as political and cultural events.
Sachsenhausen's old town
South of the Main river, in the narrow lanes and cosy timber-framed houses of old Sachsenhausen, there are a variety of cider houses where one can discover not only Frankfurt's trademark drink, "Ebbelwoi" cider, but also other specialities.
