Company Profile.
Over half a century in the market
Ameropa was founded in 1951. The business purpose at that time: attracting customers from America to experience European destinations. That was how the company got its name. As an incoming operator, the company appealed particularly to the families of the U.S. armed forces stationed in Germany. But very soon, the programmes in Germany and the neighbouring countries were also offered to customers in the domestic market. After a brief excursion into the world of charter flights, Ameropa already concentrated at an early stage on earthbound travel. In 1973, the company was taken over by the Deutsche Bahn Group, via the Deutsche Verkehrs-Kreditbank AG. After DB Touristik had transferred its complete range of “Städtetouren” (City Breaks) to Ameropa, in the 1980s, the Deutsche Bahn AG finally took a direct holding 1993, acquiring 100 percent of the shares in the tour operator.
Today, Ameropa has taken on the role of the tourism centre of competence within the DB Group and has earned itself an outstanding reputation as a reliable tour operator in the German tourism sector.
In more than ten different travel catalogues, customers can inform themselves about holidays in Germany & Europe, from wellness holidays to special rail experiences. Take advantage of monthly last-minute offers – or, of course, also book quite simply online.
Ameropa has its corporate headquarters in Bad Homburg in the low mountain range Taunus. Among the 120 people the company employes with a high degree of social responsibility, there are some colleagues who have been with Ameropa for over 30 years. The rail tour operator is managed by Managing Directors Martin Katz and Karsten Eschmann. Chairman of the Ameropa Supervisory Board is Jürgen Büchy, the current president of the German Travel Association.
